About

Hi! I'm Spencer. I'm a designer.

I will work with you in the development and expression of your professional identity/brand. By combining design intuition, software proficiency, years of experience and a near-dysfunctional degree of perfectionism, I turn simple concepts, statements, and emotions into elegant and evocative visuals. I have a knack for seizing the attention of intended audiences while working within the constraints of a given time frame and budget. I’ve designed logos, business cards, brochures, posters, banners, T-shirts, product packaging, and much more.

Early in middle school, before I even understood what “graphic designer” meant, I was introduced to some free art software: a raster-based image manipulator called Gimp, and a vector-based illustration program called Inkscape. Upon acquainting myself with their user interfaces and completing countless tutorials, I fell in love with the process of digital art. It featured practical elements that were absent from traditional art, such as perfect measurements, alignment tools, and (my personal favorite) an 'undo' button. The intersection of creativity and math never failed to satisfy the dopamine receptors in my brain. It didn't take long to realize I had a gift in design and image manipulation, and by the time I turned 16 I was working on projects for family, friends, and other clients brought in by word-of-mouth. It became increasingly evident that I'd need a website to showcase my growing portfolio and reach new clients, so that's where qbDesign comes in. Over the years I've repeatedly refined my understanding of design & aesthetics while growing progressively more competent with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, the industry-professional counterparts to Gimp and Inkscape. I have learned to anticipate and avoid potential mistakes and errors during the creative process, and I take deep, personal pride in any pieces that will have my name on it. I am invested in outputting results that are clean, well-proportioned, and "pixel-perfect," a standard that I believe every graphic designer should hold, regardless of the clients' project size or company.
